Description: The assignment is to research an emerging trend in educational technology and create an instructional application using Voicethread. We were to research a new emerging trend in technology, learn about the Voicethread application and design a voicethread explaining the technology and how it can be used.
Analysis: To begin this assignment I started researching the topics we had to pick from. I was looking for a new technology or application that I hadn’t used before so that I can learn about a new technology through this process. As I was researching and exploring my options, I was thinking a lot about how I could use the applications in my classroom. Once I decided what I was going to do my voicethread on I began exploring the voicethread application.
Reflection: When I first started to complete this assignment, I wasn’t sure where to start. I had a lot of trouble understanding the workings of voicethread, and did not know how much information I was actually supposed to include about the application I chose, versus how it was used. I chose to design a voicethread about a website called Remember the Milk. This is an online to-do list organizer. Once I got on track with what was expected for the assignment, I explored Remember the Milk further, creating my own to-do lists and really thinking about how it could be used in the classroom. Once I knew what I wanted to put in the voicethread, I began creating it. During this process, I was presented with a few problems with editing and add voice etc. Once I was finally finished I was relieved. I liked the part of the assignment where I had to research various applications and technology, but the actual creation of the voicethread seemed much more difficult than it should have been.
